Im probably silly to ask this question as Im not even pregnant yet but we are trying. We have a little boy already called Charlie (I came up with the name and my husband liked it we had Charlie or Harrison) Now he has got it into his head that Billy is the best name he has ever heard how do I get him off the name lol other then praying for a girl lol. I have tried Billy The Kid, Silly Billy (Sorry all those Billys reading this) I just dont like it as much as I love Charlie. Should I let him pick this name. It could grow on me I guess.

Timothy-- very cute, i like that and charlie. i don't really like the name Billy, i know he might like it but try to tell him you really don't like it and if he changes his mind it's because he cares that much about you.

Both of the names Charlie and Billy sound like nicknames to me. My suggestion - and it is jut that - is that you think of naming a boy Charles William or William Charles- that way it's the best of both worlds and if you want to call him Charlie or Billy you can but when he gets older he has the choice of a name that sounds like an adult name and the same with his middle name. And just so you know the usage of a middle name a primary or common use name happens maybe more than a lot of people think. My husband has always gone by his middle name - except at work and oh yeah in military - there he only went by his last name lol . and the 4 year old little boy i baby sit - his name is Tyler Jacob - he's TJ, Tyler, Jake, Jake-a-do. so which one comes first isn't as important as you and your husband coming to an agreement. Also maybe when you see his little face you'll name him Sawyer.. or some other totally unexpected name...

Either way - good luck to you

hey Sis !!!

Well you know what i think, but honestly you both have to like the name and enjoy it ! If your not happy with Billy i dont think it will grow on you, i think you need to tell Paul and just say "how can i call my son that when i really do not like it" He may be stiring you up too. Have you got a baby name book? cause i would ask Paul to highlight all the names he likes and you highlight the one's you like, you may both like a different name and maybe you could have the middle name as William or Billy up to you. Talk to him and see what he saids, CJ wanted to call Riley - Dylan....so we chose it as a middle name as i didnt want it as a first name, i dont mind the name Billy but it is your child aswell...good luck Sis haha - Pray for a girl if all else fails !

Billy is a nickname for William

Charlie is a nickname for Charles

We have both in our family

Here's the Compromise:

William Charles --you can call the kid billy

Charles William -- you can call him Charlie

Timothy William

of ocurse not, both paretns need to pick and agree on a name together. What are youthinking even asking the question, "should I let him pick this name", are you not a couple... that means two, two opinions, two decisions, discusion and AGREEMENTS

If you dont like Billy, the name is not Billy, if you pick and name he does not like, then that is not the name either

Name him William. You can call him William, or Will, and your husband can call him Billy until he gets over it or the boy grows up.

i totally agree that you and your husband should both like the name. i was supposed to be carrie elizabeth but when i was born my dad told mom that i was too small for such a long name...hi, i'm amy. they kept the family name elizabeth as my middle name. best of luck and maybe you will have a girl. what about dylan, ryan, taylor, christopher? i like timothy too.

try mixing it in with the first name or middle name. or even make it the middle name. like bobby jean, or something like that. maybe he should pick the name since you picked the last 1. or try to find something that that is better that he'll like.
