Question:
What are some typical American girl's names with cute nicknames?
2009-05-14 10:50:49 UTC
For my screenplay.

It needs to be a name which other cultures view as typically American (like Brittany or Ashley), and it needs to have a cute nickname (eg. Brittany=Bri, Ashley=Ashie).

It can't be too similar to any of these names: Liliana (Lily); Coralie (Cora); Emmaline (Emm); Jasper (Jazz); Alexandre (Alex); Isabella (Bella)

If you were gong to do Ashley I wouldnt do Ashie, its the same just without the "L" I know someone named Ashley and her nickname is Ash.

The names it cant be too similar too, are you already using those? If you are I would put it some really common names too because when you watch a movie or read a book with all uncommon names its just unrealistic... not all of yours are totally uncommon but some are common names with a little twist and I dont hear names like that too often. Also, personally I think its a little odd that all of them are going by nicknames. Just my opinion

Here are some typical American girl names (IMO): Lyndsay, Samantha, Laura, Katherine/Catherine, Amy

My thoughts:- rating 1-bad 10-great Dahlia True - Dahlia is really cute in that sort of hippie way, it feels really free however True isn't for me, I feel the name is a step to far on the virtue front. I would personally prefer something that meant truth. For instance Dahlia Alice...? 6 Meadow Jessamine - When I did work experience in a school there was a blonde little girl who had the name Jessamine I admired the name and how it worked for her but apart from that it wasn't my style. As for Meadow I think it's silly 3 Coriander Harlow - Really dislike this?! I never even considered Coriander to be used for a name but there you go pushing the boundaries I think Cori could be a cute nickname for Coriander and that's the only thing positive I can say. Harlow is fine though 3 Nira Adelie - Adelie is adorable I simply love this name I pronounce Adelie as 'ADA-lee' I think the name is simply lovely and has this really beautiful european feel. But Nira isn't my thing I would prefer Mira or Amira now Amira Adelie would be stunning! 6 Emmerose Lilith - Hmmm I love the name Emma including Emmy I also love Rose it's my favourite girl's name and even though the combination would work 'Emmy Rose' I dislike how you've combined the names together to me it looks strange. But Lilith is lovely despite bad religious connotations 7 Hadley Emilia - Hadley isn't a girl's name for me this is a boy's name but Emilia is so beautiful I think Emilia Hadley would work wonders but this way round isn't for me 6 Brielle Persephone - Brielle is a name that sounds really pretty in that sort of strange American way (if that makes sense) Brielle is interesting and I like how elegant it sounds. I the potential nickname of Bree is also every sweet. Persephone is adorable! I love Persephone, the associations with greek mythology is awesome but also she is one of the main characters in my favourite book noughts and crosses so yeah basically I love Persephone 10. Arabella Briar - Arabella is gorgeous at this precise moment I'm torn between Arabella, Isabella and Annabel. I think these 'belle' or 'bella' style names are so elegant and this includes Arabella which just sounds so cool and chic. Briar flows really well with Arabella too! I love this! 10 Beige Evangeline - Beige? LOL now that is a strange name to like! But Evangeline is stunning 6 Top 5:- Arabella Briar Brielle Persephone Hadley Emilia Nira Adelie Emmerose Lilith Anyway before I get carried away with answering this question I've gotta go as dinner's up LOL Hope this helped x
