I know it's a subtle difference, but which spelling do you prefer and why?

Thanks in advance :o)

I used to be a fan of Elizabeth, but lately I've really come to like the spelling Elisabeth, due to Elizabeth being so common.

I live in a German-speaking country and here, the spelling Elisabeth is the "normal" one. I don't like the German pronounciation of the name, but I really like the English one, so that's why I used to prefer Elizabeth over Elisabeth. But like I said, I really started liking Elisabeth, I think it looks prettier and somewhat softer than Elizabeth and as I said before, is less common.

So if you haven't figured it out by now, I prefer Elisabeth.

Sorry, I was kind of rambling there...

Elisabeth because elizabeth is a too common spelling meanwhile Elisabeth is a rarer spelling

Elisabeth is more unique

i think it looks more feminie and old fashioned with a z, so i personally think it looks nicer with an 's' not sure why but with the z its always gave me the impression of an older person and i cant imagine it on a baby or child where with the s i can for some reason. i guess it just depends on taste and theyre said the same way so it doesnt matter, but if i had to choice it would be elisabeth looks prettier in my opinion.

Elisabeth. It's the original, old-world spelling of the name. It's quite stunning and much less expected than Elizabeth. Elisabeth is simply beautiful and I love it.

Elisabeth, for many reasons.

One, Elisabeth is much less popular than Elizabeth. I think it would be extremely refreshing to see a little girl called Elisabeth, instead of Elizabeth.

Two, Elisabeth has a much softer and more feminine look than Elizabeth. The "s" in Elisabeth makes it seems very elegant and lovely, while the "z" in Elizabeth is harsh and sharp.

Three, while Elizabeth has the nickname option of Eliza, which I like, Elisabeth has the nickname option of Elise / Elisa, which I love.

Four, if I ever used Elisabeth, it would be honouring family, because my great grandmother's name was Elisabeth. If I ever used Elizabeth, it wouldn't be honouring anyone.

While I don't have a huge preference, I'd probably pick Elizabeth simply because it's the more known spelling and would probably stop the name being spelt wrong.

I desire the spelling Elisabeth for precisely the comparable motives! it particularly is lots sweeter, and that's gentle. it particularly is extra swish. The "z" in Elizabeth interrupts what might ideally be a gentle and exquisite call. BQ1: My call is spelled 'Stefanie' which isn't like the classic 'Stephanie'. So, that's already unique. i admire the spelling of my call, yet as quickly as I have been to alter it, i might use Stephenie. BQ2: Katherine Sophia. i admire the two names in my opinion, and that they do seem amazing and bypass fantastically. in view that Katherine is so classic, it pairs properly with Sophia, which i might evaluate slightly extra present day. the two names compliment one yet another particularly properly. jointly as i admire the call Charlotte, i won't be able to get myself to love the call Esme. Sorry!

Elizabeth!

I think this name just looks more orignal where as Elisabeth just looks unfamiliar and not as classy as Elizabeth. Even though both are nice I just think Elizabeth oozes class where as Elisabeth doesn't. Elizabeth is also my Grandma's name and she is just great I love her to pieces. I think also Elizabeth looks more workable too.

Hope this helped x

Elizabeth.

The z gives the name spunky character. Elisabeth is just too soft or something. Plus, I'm not sure why I see people saying that it somehow looks more regal or whatever.

Oh yeah, and Elizabeth is easier on people with interdental lisps, it seems.

I really don't care. They're both common and they are pronounced exactly the same. I guess if you plan to use Liz then Elizabeth might be a bit more logical...but I know plenty of Elisabeths who go by Liz.

Elisabeth.

I just think it looks a lot softer and more feminine.

Plus I prefer it pronounced uh-LISS-uh-beth rather than uh-LIZ-uh-beth. It's a minute difference, but I just like it a lot better.

I can't stand Elizabeth, but Elisabeth's one of my favourite names.

Elisabeth- the 'z' makes it look harsh and I don't like the other spelling. The 's' makes the name look softer and flowy.

Which do you prefer?

I like it spelled with a Z but I'm biased because my name is Elizabeth. With Elizabeth, you can go by Liza, Liz or Lizzie easily. If your name is Elisabeth, its easier to go by Lisa. Either way, I'm lucky my name has so many possible nicknames. I love my name.

I prefer Elisabeth, but would use Elizabeth. I wouldn't want my kid to spend a lifetime correcting the spelling of her name.

I would actually use Elsa - Scandinavian form - my beloved late relative had this name.

Elizabeth, because i think it reads better.

and also if you have Eliza for short, it looks more like "ee-lie-za" rather that "ee-lee-sa"

And I love how there's a 'z' in it!

Elizabeth

The 'z' makes it look slightly stronger to me, though not in a masculine manner

Also, the subtle sound difference I prefer

The English spelling is with the Z and I prefer it as I am English-speaking. If I were German or French or whatnot, I'd use an S.

Minor preference. I don't dislike the S.

I prefer Elizabeth, partially because I like names that have uncommon letters (like z or x) in them, and also partially because with Elizabeth, you can have the nickname "Beth" or the nickname "Eliza"....having the nickname "Elisa" seems a little weird to me, personally....
