Pronounced MY-ah.

I'm not sure whether it should be spelt Maya, Maia or Mya though...

What a beautiful name! It flows so nicely together.



I have a friend my age (26) who spells it Maya and when I was a preschool teacher a couple years ago, we had a 2 year-old who was Maia. I think both spellings are nice, but I really hate Mya. I feel like that's the "dumbed down" version to choose just to make sure it's pronounced correctly, but MOST people should know that Maya/Maia is pronounced like My-ah, anyway. If they don't, they'll get corrected once and it'll be done with - no big deal.



My vote personally is for Maia as I think it's the prettiest, and the Greek goddess of spring is Maia.

Pretty! I'm not a huge fan of Maya myself, but I do see the appeal and it is very pretty in terms of appearance and sound. Maya Noelle goes very nicely together. Oh, and Maya is definitely the nicest spelling in my opinion. Maia and Mya do not look right to me.

I like it spelled as Maia. I do like it as Maya but I think some people would be compelled to pronounce it as May-uh instead of My-uh. The spelling of Mya might make it easier for some people. I only know one person with this name and she spelled Maia.

Maya would get pronounced as May-uh in most places. Maia or Mya would work best.



I don't like Maya/Maia/Mya though. I do like NOelle.

I'm not keen on Noelle, but I like Maya - it's really cute. I prefer it spelt Maia though - I think it's the prettiest, most feminine spelling, and it's more unusual than Maya. :]

That's the spelling I would use, too...I've met several girls/women named "Maya", but the only "Mya" I know of is the singer.
