1. I was about 15 when I first started on baby names. Back then, I was interested in character names (for my crappy fanfiction) and found this site by chance. From there, baby names became much more interesting to me and I’ve been obsessed ever since. I guess it’s because coming up with names for future children seems more realistic and worth-while as opposed to putting names on make-believe characters.

2. I’ve been on this site for around about 7 years now and have cycled through several accounts. Originally, I was on here every day for 6+ hours a day, depending on how much free time I had. But nowadays I’m much more busy, and since I no longer garner naming inspiration from this site, I pop in maybe once or twice a day for a quick browse before moving on to something else.

3. The Infamous Bunny, NinjaRobot, Atom Reed and Arianwen, to name a few. They were regulars way back when, but one by one they left this site and now I don’t think any of them are left. I know their names to this day because this site was very much a regular community at one point, but nowadays it just tends to be a mixture of teens, tweens, anonymous and irregular users, so I’m not familiar with anyone on here currently.

4. Audrey. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her write anything nice – she mainly criticises, and often unfairly. There’s also a user named Paula who’s a bit of a gay-basher and a hypocrite. She’ll say that Aubrey is masculine, but then claims that Rowen (her #1 name) is all girl and ‘too feminine’ every time someone asks about it for boys, even though she knows damn well it’s been a boy name for hundreds of years! The pair of them really grind my gears.

5. I would classify my naming style as Essentric Classic. I like traditional names, but instead of Peter and Lea, I'm more likely to gravitate towards Peregrine and Leocadia.

6. I don’t post my favourite names on here anymore. Primarily because my names are genuinely obscure, and I would like them to stay that way. And even though I’m often bursting at the seams to share them, if I post them online they will be noticed far more than if I hadn’t. So, I’ll give you 3 names I’ve been fascinated by recently: Bellamy, Linden, Sholto + Coraline, Jovie and Olenna.

7. Boy names on girls is a very irritating trend. Without going into too much detail, the people who like masculine names on girls would never dream of using feminine names on boys, so not only are they hypocrites (as they so often claim in their defence that 'names have no gender'), but they're promoting sexism as well.

1. When did you first become interested in names, and what was the reason?

I guess it was about six or seven years ago when I started getting into writing stories to get away from all the bullcrap in my life. An outlet, you know? I couldn't just pick any name or I'd pick a name and would change my mind. Piles and piles of papers with notes and names in the margins - boys and girls, surnames, name combinations. I had to list them all and say them aloud and picture my character before settling on a name. Through all that I learned the meanings and origins behind names and it's kind of become interesting to me now. Names have always intrigued me, I suppose, because I've always been good at remembering people's names. I'll meet them once and I'll remember their name no matter how much time goes by.

2. How frequently do you use the baby names section?

All the time! At least once a day every day.

3. Who are your favorite contributors in this section?

A top contributor named Autumn.

4. Any users in this section you wish would go away?

All kinds. The people who are jerks about answering and love to start fights. Pisses me off.

5. How would you classify your naming style?

Traditional with the occasional trendy and exotic. My favorites are traditional but I use all kinds in my stories. I just hate the modern names these days. The unique spelling and the celebrity names and all that.

6. What are your 3 favorite names for each gender?

Girls: Rose, Maggie and Isabelle. Boys: Noah, Adam and Michael

7. Your greatest pet peeve about the baby names section on YA, or baby name trends in general?

Modern names. Some of the trendy and hippie with the unique spellings. I've seen some really weird names on YA that people are actually considering and it's just not tasteful to me. And I don't like how people give their opinions obnoxiously or how they start fights and then start getting mad at you for fighting back. So annoying.

1. When did you first become interested in names, and what was the reason?

I have always been interest in them since I was little. I am not sure why, I just love names.

2. How frequently do you use the baby names section?

I have probably been using it off and on for 8 years. It varies, I have probably gone a full year without using it, lately I have been interested in names again.

3. Who are your favorite contributors in this section?

I don't really pay attention to all that stuff. I couldn't tell you one name of a user I remember.

4. Any users in this section you wish would go away?

There are a few people that just agree with every questions name because they are trying to get points. It defeats the purpose on being on Y!A and giving your opinion/advice.

5. How would you classify your naming style?

Traditional more old-fashioned names, although I have been liking the more earthy sounding names too.

6. What are your 3 favorite names for each gender?

I would say these are my ultamite favorites, but here are some I am liking: Ezra, Silas, and Ellis for boys. Willa, Cecilia, and Hazel for girls.

1. I've probably been interested in names since I was a child. Having no children of my own (and none in the foreseeable future), it's more been just an interest, like collecting stamps. I collect names! I love looking at old SSC lists, family trees, visitor's lists, just to see what interesting names I can find.

2. Depends. Sometimes I come on here every day, sometimes I'll go several months without looking at the baby names section.

3. I have no idea. I know there are some people who's answers I appreciate, but I don't pay much attention to the user names.

4. Those who get unnecessarily angry and vindictive if they don't agree with you. That pretty much goes for all web forums.

5. I go for musical names. I'm a musician, so I think that has something to do with it. I love names that just sound beautiful and light.

6. Oliver, William, James; Cecelia, Beatrix, and Sarah are some of my favourites.

7. I don't really have a pet peeve on yahoo answers specifically, but I must say, it really bugs me when people name their daughters something that's traditionally male, but would never even consider name their son something that's traditionally female. I just don't like what that says. And if I meet another Hudson or Ella, I'm going to scream! There are just way too many of them LOL.

1. Playing with barbie dolls as a child. Creating the perfect name for each of them was very important lol.

2. Frequently

3. Idk, I don't really keep up with users. Seems like everyone's anonymous these days anyway.

5. Not specific really; I like modern, classic, unisex, unique names, etc.

4. Not go away, just reflect on their attitudes I suppose haha.

6. Lol the thing is it changes so much that I don't even have a top 3! For me it really depends on how well the name flows with the middle and surname. I can say my favorite girl name has been Juliet for a long while now though. As for boys, I love Theo and Cameron....and a lot more.

7. Just closed-mindedness. I think people should be open to new trends or different naming styles. Never understood why some users act as if all names had to be classics (although I love the classics). Of course you won't like every name, but understand that everybody has their own taste. =)

1. When I was in like middle school, and because I discovered this site haha, but I also played computer games where I got to name the characters and I write stories and stuff so that's also a reason

2. Like every day or every other day right now, but it's been on and off. Like I'll go a year without going on and then get back on for a few months

3. I don't have any, I don't really know any

4. All the ones who are just flat out mean when they don't like a name, or the ones who answer questions no one asked.

5. Classic with some modern names thrown in and idk just long, beautiful names.

6. Changes all the time but girls: Marianna, Charlotte, Josephine

Boys: Anthony, Elliott, Oliver

7. just people who are mean and closed minded to any names that aren't old, and again people who answer questions that aren't asked

1. I guess that I've been interested in names since I was little? I used to play with dolls and write a lot, so I was always picking out names and thinking up ones too.

2. All the time! I love answering people's questions and participating in 'name games'. I also post my own questions too.

3. I don't really pay attention to who posts the question!

4. I wouldn't say that I would want anyone to 'go away'. I just wish people all over Yahoo!Answers would be much more polite and respectful of other's opinions!

5. I tend to go for more unique, uncommon names, but I love traditional names too! I guess I'm kinda eclectic too.

6. For girls I love: Florence, Eleanor and Rosalie

For boys I love: Austin, Ezra and Noah

7. Just rudeness on Yahoo in general. Some people will be absolutely horrid when stating that they dislike a name you've suggested, despite the fact that there are nice, polite ways to put it. I also kinda dislike nicknames as first names (eg: Charlie & Tommy instead of Charles & Thomas), but I wouldn't classify it as a pet peeve.

1. I first became interested in names when I was a little girl. At first it was for role playing games.

2. I visit Baby Names daily.

3. I don't really pay attention to the names of the contributors. Besides that, so many go anonymous now.

4. The only "user" i wish would go away is the person/people who keep posting the "tips" site. I've never clicked on it and I won't but I am sure it can't be good. I wish the people that kepp asking the same question over and over and over would quit doing it, too.

5. I have eclectic naming style. A little bit of everything.

6. Molly, Lily, Fiona & Jackson, Andrew, and Robert.

7. Pet peeve: I already mentioned it, the ones who keep asking the same question over and over. I am not so fond of the anger that sometimes shows up either.

1. I've been interested in names since I was a little girl, not sure why but I always thought they were interesting. I liked to pick my favorites and imagine what I'd name my kids one day.

2. I first starting using it when I was 11 or 12, so 6-7 years I've been around. Used to be quite often, then I didn't care for it for a long time. And now I'm back to checking on it almost every day because I'm bored without university haha.

3. I used to have favorites but it's been awhile since I've been familiar with everyone, so I forget/don't know.

4. Don't know specifically but in general, trolls.

5. I think my naming style is mostly classic, and some modern.

6. For girls, Emmeline, Margaret, and Callie. Emmeline and Margaret have been my favorites for years. Callie is recent and I like it the same amount as some other names on my list. For boys, James, Evan, and Holden. James and Evan have been for years, Holden is recent but I really like it a lot.

7. I do not like crazily spelled names and that's probably my biggest pet peeve.

1. I've been interested in names since I was a child, as I am an avid writer and am always on the lookout for new and interesting names to use in my stories. I am still a writer today, but am more interested in names on a personal level (what we would like to name our own kids).

2. I think I use the section most days, although I will go weeks without checking it sometimes. I just like to see what people are thinking and talking about.

3. I couldn't give you any names; I don't really pay attention to whose posting the answers.

4. Haha, there are certainly some but, again, I couldn't tell you any names. I especially dislike people who post anonymously and completely blast the asker.

5. I think my naming style is probably uncommon. There is a mix of older, more traditional names that aren't really used much anymore and a mix of newer, more unusual names that haven't really caught on yet. I do like some names that are pretty popular, in most cases, I liked them before they boomed.

6. I love Isobel, Lillian and Juliet for girls and I love Noah, Lachlan and Timothy for boys.

7. My biggest pet peeves on naming trends are nicknames used as first names (such as Charlie instead of Charles or Charlotte), completely butchered spellings and ridiculous made up names. My biggest pet peeves about this section are people being unnecessarily rude - we are all entitled to our own opinions.

1. I wrote stories so I was always coming up with names.

2. I use it everyday

3. I don't have "favorite" contributors. .

4. I don't think anyone should "go away" I just wish more people would be respectful and not tear other people down.

5 l like modern and older names

6. Scarlett, Ava, Keira

Landon, Joel, Isaac

7. The rudeness on Yahoo answers really gets old. People will tear your baby names down because they don't like it. But there are nice ways to put it that they don't like the names.

1. i always have!

2. not too often (I used to come on all the time years ago), but at least a few times a week. (usually on anon)

3. these are really old users who don't come on anymore, but I used to like Mughain and Noelle who were regulars on here a while back when I used to come on more frequently. i also really like Heidi Eliza's answers. some newer people I think give helpful answers are Buttercup, Georgina, Anathema, and Meerkat Uno.

4. sorry to be catty but... Audrey and Layla. both are rude and preach to others about what names people should like when they don't have the best taste themselves

5. traditional names.

6. Felicity, Catherine, Anna, & Isaac, Theodore, & Nicholas

7. people who don't know how to give their opinion without being obnoxious, and on the other side of the spectrum, people who are to sensitive and get offended by every tiny insult to a name they like. also, theres one person who continuously asks about Bree and Brianna

1. Ive always just liked them, me and all my friends used to think of our favorite names when we were little :)

3. i dont rlly come on here well enough to know!

4. a few people are rlly rude, but not sure if I should say who

5. a mix of older and modern names, mostly classic names though!

6. Naomi, Elodie, Cecilia and Zachary, Joshua, Ryan :)

7. people who are rlly rude for no reason or just hypocritical, like saying Taylor is too masculine for a girl (even though I don't rlly like it) but then they like Frankie or something for a girl
