So they aren't exactly real names...?

but I'm creating a fake country for a story I'm writing and I have the country's name down to these options. Which of these do you like more?

Amisine
Pryndivan
Dordrainne
Fortamisland
Lavonide

All of them are very difficult to read, it takes some work to figure out what you are trying to spell out. This makes it very difficult from a readers perspective. You should avoid using all of those names. You want to use a name that will be easy for a reader to understand. Even though the spelling makes sense to you, it won't for people reading the story. You don't want the reader to have to stop and try and figure out what the word is everything they get to it in the text.

They sound like drugs.

Try not to make them so weird. Simple is better. You could also take names from other cultures or history. For example, if the country is like Medieval Europe you could take names from that time and tweak them a bit.

You could do what Tolkien did when he invented Middle Earth, he based it on already existing languages i.e. Welsh (Sindarin Elvish), Old Finnish (Quenya Elvish), Anglo-Saxon English (Westron/Adunaic), Hebrew (Khuzdul/Dwarvish).



Edit:

Have you considered Provençal names? e.g. Aliénor, Donat, Magali..

Or Breton names, e.g. Erwan, Judicaël, Gaël, Gaëlle, Gwenaël, Gwenaëlle, Rozenn, Franceza, Maël, Maëlle, Maëlys, Corentin, Katell, Nolwenn..

Or cool Medieval names: Forthwind, Athalos, Ayleth.. etc.

I see you use amis a few times and would therefore pick Amisland rather than Fortamisland which seems a bit too long too remember.
