How would you pronounce this name?

Cara.

I'd always seen it as CARE-uh, but recently, I've heard it as CAR-uh (as in 'car' haha), and I've started liking it that way too! I realize that if I ever used this name, I could just specify the pronunciation for people, but I was wondering how most people would pronounce it!

Which way do you pronounce it, and which do you prefer?

Also, tell me where you're from, because I've seen that in the UK it's pronounced CAR-uh a lot.

Both are probably correct, but I would say CAR-uh (that's the only one I've heard so far!). I prefer CAR-uh as well. If you wanted alternatives, Carina or Claire could be used. However, I think Cara's a lovely name and out of Cara and Tessa, definitely go with Cara! I'm from the UK by the way :)

CARE-uh is how I would initially pronounce it. But I see where it could be CAR-uh, like Carla. It really depends on how YOU want it said. Like Helena being Ha-lane-uh or Helen-uh. I like both about equally. Maybe Care-uh just a little bit more. I'm American and I was raised in southern Virginia but currently live in Michigan.

I pronounce Cara like you. Care-uh. I know two Kara's and both spell it with a K. My sister's name is Kara and she is 17. My friend's name is Kara and she is 16.
