Question:
Nickname for Andromeda?

I'm not one to force nicknames for full names (or vice versa), but sometimes names are so long that they simply require a nickname. The name I'm thinking about is Andromeda, which has been on my guilty pleasure list for ages.

I was rereading My Sister's Keeper, and I noticed something that I'd forgotten - Anna's full name is Andromeda!

So my question is, WDYT of Anna as a nickname for Andromeda?

BQ1: What do you think of Andromeda?
BQ2: What do you think of Anna as a full name?

Thanks! :)

Anna seems a bit...simple. Andromeda is amazing and full of charm, but Anna, while lovely in her own right, doesn't capture that charm.

BQ1. I think Andromeda is intriguing, quirky, charming, and vibrant.

BQ2. Somewhat lovely, simple, teeters on boring though.

Two cents: While Anna works, so might Andy (not my fave), Romy, Roma, Meda, Maddie, Oma, Ro, Rhoda, and Mimi

I love My Sister's Keeper. One of those books/movies that you can't help but be moved by each time you go back to read/watch it again.

Anna is fine as a nickname for Andromeda. I think it's OK to give nicknames a lot more leeway than full names, you know? As long as the proper name that you are giving a person is a quality name, then whatever nicknames you decide to use are pretty much up to you and the person being called by the nickname! I could probably think of some other good nicknames though...Andrey, Annie, Drama :)

BQ1: I love Andromeda. It's "out there" and not at all common, but to me it's not weird or awkward or anything like that. It's elegant.

BQ2: I love Anna too. It's very common, at least in the USA, so I personally would not use it. But I still think it is adorable. And of course, it ages well. I know a 70 year old woman named Anna and the name really adds to her "southern belle charm."

I love Andromeda, mainly because of its spacey associations. (Huge space-name nerd)

Anna for Andromeda is a tiny bit of a stretch but not totally outlandish, and it's a nice classic option for a relatively obscure name.

BA1: Oh, I answered this above by mistake

BA2: Not quite intriguing enough. I'd far prefer it as a nickname for Annabel or Annaliese or even Leanna

I think Anna is a good nickname.

BQ: I think it's a pretty-ish sounding name, but it's better as a guilty pleasure.

BQ: I love it! So pretty and goes with so many names.

Good luck :)
