Decided that Zoe is better then Zoey, but what about the umlaut? Yay or nay?
The umlaut is the two dots above the 'e' just in case you didn't know :)

It comes from the Greek word ζωη (zōḗ, "life"), which is why the diaeresis (umlaut) is often used. Since it's so common now, most of the time it is left off because people know how to pronounce it (like Chloe).

I think unless you live in a Dutch speaking country, it's probably best not to use the umlaut. She most likely wouldn't use it when signing papers or writing emails, and people definitely wouldn't take the time to write/type it when writing to her. So I'd say just leave it off.
But of course, that's just my opinion. If you like it, go for it!! It's your child :)

Tbh when she's growing up she'll never use the umlaut so I suppose you could have it put on the birth certificate but don't expect it to be used in school etc.

i say without, no one will add it on throughout her life anyway, like on birthday cards and such. I love the name spelled zoe as well :)
the umlaut makes me think of noel (xmas) because that word has it too

I like it with the umlaut, but it would be a hassle to remember :)

One of my twin daughters is named Zoey. That is my favorite way to spell her name. I have seen it spelled Xoe, Xoie, and Zoie and I really don't like those.
