Hi, everyone, my name is Ava and I need some help.
I was married up until December 18th, 2007, when my husband died. We have a daughter together, Lily-Rose and now I discovered that I am 8 weeks pregnant with another child.
When my husband died, I added a middle name to Lily's name, making her Lily-Rose Davie Anderson. I would like you to help me to think a name (I do not know yet if it is a boy or a girl) that in some way honors my late husband. Of course, if it is a boy, I would add the middle name Dave in his honor.
I have this ideas for names, but I am open for suggestions. Thanks.
(The surname is Anderson)

I am so sorry for your lost. I lost my husband a few years ago on December 20. I still hate december. I am glad you have are having his second child, what a blessing

Here are a few names I found for a girl, for a middle name

Davette

Davida

Davina/Davinia

Davita

Lacey Davita Anderson

Zoe Davinia Anderson

Here are some names that means beloved, like David

Carena, Carine, Karina, Morna

Boys

Riley David Anderson, I like Ryan David Anderson

Jacob David Anderson

Bennett means Blessed

Bennett David Anderson

Theodore, Matthew, Matthais, Nathan all means gift of god\

That is what your new baby is a blessed gift of god

Again, I am very sorry about you husband

It is not easy, living without the person you planned to grow old together

Instead of David, Davis

I am SO sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what you're going through. But the upside, if there can be one, is that your husband left you with another little piece of himself. I'm sure you'll treasure that for the rest of your life.

I LOVE Lily-Rose. You should trust your instincts because you have good taste.

I love Zoe, Melody & Daveigh in that order. Are you going to have them with an extra name like Lily-Rose's Davie? That might work with Zoe & Melody.

The boys' names are OK, though not outstanding. I HATE Emmet. Can you name your son after his father--just a jr.? I couldn't do that, because my hus's name is Samuel Simon and I just couldn't do that to a baby. Our son is Joel David.

Best of wishes,

TX Mom

I would have to say Zoe for a girl. I like to pick something with meaning and Zoe means "life" this is a life through your husband. I first thought Zoe Daveigh Anderson but that's a lot of "ee" sounds. Maybe change it to Zoelle Daveigh Anderson and call her "Zoe" for short.

If its a boy I would name Him Riley David Anderson. Riley means "courageous". A very strong meaningful name as well.

I am sorry for your loss. May your child bring you much strength, courage, and life!!

I love Emmanuel. Emmanuel Dave would be very handsome!

What about Zoe Davina for a girl?

I wouldn't use Daveigh because you already used Davie for your other daughter.

emmanuel david anderson and not for nothing I know your not crazy about it but in a tribute to your husband I would name him david emmanuel jr because the child will be carrying on the name. I'm so sorry about your husband and I wish your family the best. keep your head up and carry on for your kids. Best wishes.

They're all beautiful. I'm sorry to hear about your husband.

The only names that I personally wouldn't choose out of your list would be Emmet (I don't know why I associate it with a mivie character that wasn't nice) and Daveigh for a girl (I'm sorry, it's just not a girl's name...think 20 years down the line, for your girl's wellbeing..she'd be better off with a girlier name. Her father's memory will always be passed to her by you anyway).

Best to you!

You might also consider:

Davina

Davinia

Davida

(all valid feminine forms of Dave/David)

Davis

Dawson

(both literally translating to "son of David" ... Davis being used as a short form of Davison/Davidson)

Davin - an unrelated variant of Devin that happens to contain the obvious "dav" nod to your husband

Here are some other translations, by the way: http://www.behindthename.com/php/translate.php?terms=dave&menuterm=&menuterm2=&gender=both

Hope they help!

Bless you. So sorry for the loss of your Dave.

I like Jacob, that is my sons name.

Luke, Jay for boys

Megan, Poppy, Faith for girls. Possibly Davina for a girl?

By the way, Lily Rose is a lovely name and so is yours. X

I think Emmet would be a good choice for a middle name, since your husband was fond of it (but you're not, so it's not a great first name choice) and you already used his name for your daughter. Jacob Emmet or Caleb Emmet would be nice.

I think Melody sounds adorable with Lily!
