How do YOU feel about unique spelling of names?

For me seeing name spelled different can make the parents seem illiterate/uneducated to me.(almost like the new ghetto names in my mind and might be difficult for employers to take them serious when it comes to jobs)

Yeah some spelling changes can work and if it make being able to pronounce( there is a limit) the name easier then OK

BUT for the most part its stupid

I understand not wanting to have the name name as a ton of others. My is Jessica and growing up with the top popular name for my birth year I don't respond to my first name I go by my last name

I think giving a child a name maybe from a different culture ( you can look at your background) would be better so much better then spelling a common name different.

HERE are some Examples:

•Abigail--Abbigail, Abagale, Abigael
•Allison-- Allisenne, Alisyn
•Ava--Aeva, Avah, Aevaeh, Ayva, Aiva
•Avery-- Avaree, Avareigh
•Brianna-- Breighanna, Bree-Anna
•Destiny-- D'estiny, Destanee, Destyneigh
•Emily-- Emilee, Emmalie, Emmalee, Emileigh
•Grace-- Grayce, Graece
•Hailey-- Hayleigh, Haylee, Haelee, Haelie
•Isabella-- Izabella, Isabellah, Izabellah
•Jennifer-- Jennyfer, Jennipher, Jennafer
•Jessica-- Jessika, Jessicah, Jessycka <---- this one is just sad how do you know how to pronouce
•Kayla-- Kaela, Kaylah, Caelah, Cayla, Chaela
•Madeline-- Maddalyn, Madlyn, Madelenne
•Madison-- Madisyn, Maddisyn, Madisenne
•Megan-- Maygun, Maegan, Maygen
•Michelle-- Mashell, M'shell
•Mia-- Meah, Meigha, Meayah
•Morgan-- Morgyn, Morganne
•Natalie-- Nataleigh
•Sophia-- Sofea, Soffia, Sophya
•Taylor-- Taelor

Giving your kid one of these monikers condemns him or her to a life time of spelling out the errant name.

Stick with standard spellings and do them a favor.

I think some are okay, the ones that are still normal looking and not with a million added letters.

Hailey can be spelled Hayley and it doesn't bother me

Kaitlyn can be spelled Caitlin or Katelyn and those both work

Sophia can be spelled Sofia, because that is actually a real spelling of the name, more popular than Sophia in some places

But Aeva is dumb, Avery is barely a girls name, so i don't think the spelling should be changed, the only one i can say anything about is Megan... i know people who spell it Maegan and it is actually pronounced with May at the beginning, so that one makes sense

I think a REASONABLE misspelling is ok. My name is Halli (pronounced Halle) nobody ever spells it correctly, but there is a family reason behind the spelling. I want to name my child Jewel, but I want to spell is Jewele because that is how my grandmother spelled it. It is very difficult having a different spelling. For instance I NEVER found any of those cutesy key chain things with the correct spelling of my name. I had to have them specially made. Nobody could ever pronounce my name. It got really annoying, but if you ask me now that I am older and now that I know the reasoning behind my name I wouldn't change for anything. Again a reasonable and poignant misspelling is ok in my opinion.

If there's a legit re-spelling at work, due to a language difference (ie: Aleksandr for Alexander, Yonatan for Jonathan) then I'm all for it.

Different spellings for the sake of youneekness? So, so silly. First, the child is saddled with a name nobody can spell, and second, it's still the same boring name, just misspelled.

You are setting your child up for a lifetime of spelling their name out... My name is Kaylah "with an H" Smith. No, the H goes at the end... K. A. Y. L. A. H. Why would you want to do that? How annoying for that poor child!

I don't think it makes it unique at all, just misspelled. When someone says their name, whether it's spelled Sophia, Sofea, of Sophya, it all sounds the same, so how in the world is it more unique? I'd rather just have an unpopular name that's spelled correctly.
katelyn.

For the most part, I dislike them. Especially ones with excessive letters.

I don't like any of the ones you posted.

Names like Kaelyn or Jaelyn, I don't mind different spellings. Like Kaylin, Kaelin, etc.

Also the name Caitlin has so many different variations. But spellings like Kahtelynne is ridiculous.

how does the person with the name feel? we are getting to a point were parent will legally name their kids "crack cocaine," or "free tibet a promis rainbow children of corn." traditional is not so bad sometimes. names with cool origins are neat.

honestly I find it annoying. Why bother changing the spelling if its the same sound? It just makes it harder. Why not try choosing a unique name instead?
