I don't like it. This is related to that poster awhile back that mentioned Dakota Rayne. It sounds like a cheap detergent. My parents currently live in Montana. While the Western side is gorgeous, Butte and Billings and such are nothing worthwhile. Instead of naming her Montana, why not pick a nice sounding town in Montana? That way, people won't think of Hannah Montana.

Here's some nice sounding towns in Montana:

Helena

Ashland

Arlee

Libby

Augusta

Ismay

Lindsay

Angela

I like the two names, just not together.

Montana Rain...that's just a play on words and NOT cute for a baby's name.

Give it one of these two names with just a regular name and see what you think.

There are going to be too many girls being born into names like Montanna and Cheyenne . Just like now there are too many 20 somthings going around with names like Brooke . ( No offense intended !) She'll get lost in the crowd with a "used to be trendy" name . Try to think of a name that will be attractive and respected when she is 16 . ( Remember you are naming a child , not a dog who will be dead in sixteen years and whose name won't make much difference anyway .)Come up with something new and original , or go back to the classics . How about Sunny , Molly , Shawn , Candita , Tango , Smile , Rebecca , Annette , Nicolette , ...

BTW if it is Montana everyone will call her "Monty" !

Sound like a weatherman's name on the evening news. It might be cute now, but a name is very important to a person and could determine that child's fate in life. Your daughter needs an intelligent and strong name. A name that will identify with changing the world, discover the cure for cancer, an answer to preventing poverty and the prevention of wars.

I like the Montana but the Raine is a bit top heavy. What about Montana Rae, Montana Rose or Montana Jane or something else short and sweet?

I really don't like "place names...Montana, Cheyenne, Savannah, Paris, London, etc. Raine is a pretty name though.

I'm sorry, but it sounds like a phrase that might be used on the Weather Channel. And given that those exact sort of word/phrase "names" are the most common in the adult entertainment industry, it seems you're setting her up for a lifetime of woe ... or at the very least, destining her for the pole. I'd keep looking.

How about United States for a name?

States and Countries as names drive me crazy!

I like Raine, but Montana sounds kinda trendy. When I think of "Montana" I think of Hanna Montana and rednecks naming their girls after western places (Dakota, Cheyenne, etc.)

Who is to say what is a normal name. I think names can be unique but you can't classify a name as not being normal becuase it's not common.

Montana does make me think of a boy rather than a girl though. I bet her girl friends would probably end up calling her Anna anyway.

Montana- sounds a bit like an American burger.

Raine- sounds like... well...rain.

What about something like

Monica

Mona

Molly

Maria

May

Mary

Rachael

Renee

Reese

There are plenty more.

But at the end of the day it's up to you.

Good luck.

As a teacher, just let me say that we tend to pre-judge kids by their names before we even meet them. Its awful, but its reality. A name like that would make me automatically think that the parents were un-educated or too young to have children.

Also, make sure you always send your kids to school clean and with their hair combed.

If you're going to use state names like so many others have, why not shy away from the montana, dakota, nevada or their city names like Cody and savanna and do one not often used, Like Iowa or Idaho?

Sorry if I sound crude, but that was the stage name of the stripper at my friend's bachelor party. (seriously) I would avoid the combination. ' Montana' is fine, but the combo sounds cheesy.

I like the middle name, but I would rethink the first name

That's pretentious and horrible. You're naming a child, not a ninth-grade poem.
2007-10-16 12:13:58 UTC
I have never got why parents punish there kids with stupid names. there just going to get made fun of in school. don't do it for the sake of your daughter.

Its absolutely beautiful and original. Especially combined with that middle name.....It reminds me of the name Dakota....which I want to use for one of my kids.

Im sure you already know about Hannah Montana, Billy Ray Cirus's daughter who is a pop star as well and uses the stage name "Hannah Montana". That has NOTHING to do with your name Montana Raine....so don't give in to all the stupid people that will say it reminds them of her. lol....lots of names can remind us of a lot of people. But its gorgeous, strong and soft at the same time.
2007-10-16 12:07:44 UTC
