Do you think if I named my son Anakin, he would get made fun of?

I know I've joked about naming a baby Pumpkin or Urabitch before, but this time I'm being legit. I actually love the name Anakin. And no I'm not pregnant But I'm allowed to think of baby names aren't I? In case you are wondering, the meaning of the name is "Warrior", it's American and yes, it's from Star Wars. The thing is, it wouldn't just be a coincidence that there's a star wars charcater with the same name. I'd actually be naming my child after Anakin Skywalker (and knowing me, I'd probably start calling him Ani which would **** him off cuz it sounds like Annie. I know my brother Matthew gets pissed when I call him Mattie (Maddie)) I know alot of star wars fans would love to b named after a star wars characte, but I don't want him to be embarrassed when someone asks him who he was named after and he says "some guy In this old space movie." That does sound kinda lame. I know it's a little pointless to be thinking about kids names right now, but I might as well. Better to ask this question now than plan to name my son Anakin and then ask it when I'm actually pregnant and have ppl tell me it's a bad idea. And please don't say "who cares what other ppl think. It's your kid. Name him whatever u want" cuz I don't care what ppl think, but I don't want my kid to get made fun of bc of me. Ppl can make fun of me for naming him that all they want but they can't make fun of my son. So whataya think? Should I do it or not? I mean, it's not like I'm gonna have twins and name them Luke and leia, but i don't want my son o end up with a nickname like darth vader. And no, I'm not making his middle name skywalker. Btw, my girl name is Jovi (my own version of the name Jovie) it's for my friend Kristin who's OBSESSED with Bon jovi. Plus ita just a cute name. It means joyful. Whataya think of that one? Thankyou!

People always get teased because of their names. He might get teased then again...he might not but if you like the name then go for it

yes I think he will get made fun off. Even if people don't get the star wars reference, I was already thinking they'd make fun of him and call him Ani or Anna before you mentioned the nickname its very feminine if you know a feminine nickname pissed off your brother why would you do it to your son? Also you are right it might not be cool to him to be named after a character, my son loves cars but I doubt he wants to be named Mater or Lightning McQueen. Also, as someone said, sadly we are prejudged by our names-studies have shown someone named a less out there name like Thomas is more likely to get a higher grade or a job interview versus someone named, say Anakin. Unfair but your future son or daughter is the one who has to fill out those job and college apps. Jovi I can take or leave, I think you have more leeway to be creative with girls name but boys need a good strong name.

I don't think he will, I know a girl called Anakin and everyone always says; like the guy from Star Wars!!! But she doesn't get bullied.

It's like naming your child Levi, everyone will think of the jeans, but they wouldn't get bullied because of it.

I think Anakin is a nice name. And i'm sure kids won't really know much about Star Wars (unless their parents are fanatics) by the time you have your son.

Jovi is sweet too. :)

Girl, that question's much too long, but Anakin is Anakin Skywalker, and that's that. Will he get made fun of? Well, that depends on how well that future age group will know about Star Wars.

It may be hard when he gets older because some business's might not like how his name sounds or looks, I know people shouldn't judge a person by a name but that's how jobs & people are these days.

I agree that it's a cute name! And I absolutely love StarWars. I think that naming a child Anakin wouldn't be that big of a deal. His teachers at school would appreciate his name. And Jovi as a girl's name is also cute. Very different.

I'm not sure ... Little kids wouldn't get the reference, I don't think. Some would, but not many. If you're really worried, you might want to just make it a middle name? And, for what it's worth, I think it's actually a pretty normal-sounding name.

I say if you like the name then go for it but have a nickname to lean back on like Andy or something.
