Question:
Has anyone ever heard of the name Mesa for a girl?

I have asked about this name before and got a mixed reaction. My family gives a mixed reaction to it also, but I just can't help liking it. I have always thought mesa's are one of natures greatest beauties. The middle name would be Grace or Ann. Just give me an honest opinion. I don't want to give my child an idiotic name just because I happen to like it!

It isn't my favorite. I just can't imagine naming a girl "table".

I don't know if the actual meaning has that much relevance. I do think there is a big difference between "spear thrower" and "table". But I live in an area where lots of people speak Spanish. I would think it was an odd name and I think most people around here would too. But that is just my opinion. It is your child and you should name her whatever you want to. But you did ask for opinions.

I've never heard of Mesa being used as a name before, but I love it! I would pronounce it "may-za", just like the word. It's a great nature name, and sounds very laid back, funky, New Mexico-y.

I don't usually take the origin of a name into consideration when I'm deciding if I like it, but if it's a name that is the same as a particular word, then I do. And Mesa is gorgeous.

It's not so out there as to be crazy, but I definitely haven't met a Mesa before. I actually kinda like it.

I don't think the meaning is really that important because, as you say, no one really knows what every name means. Mesa just doesn't do it for me though. I really think some kids would call her "Mess-uh". Grace is a pretty name and you might want to call her Grace Mesa if you really want to use Mesa.

KInda cute but I think the other kids will be callnig her table all the time unless you go to a school and area where nobody knows Spanish.

I knew a baby named Miana (mee ah nah) but people started calling her manana.....that is actually how I remember her name when I can't remember.

I haven't heard of it. I would like it if it was pronounced Mee-sah, i wouldn't like it if it was pronounced Mess-ah. I like Mesa Grace.

Extra.

Now you mention it's pronounced May-sa I like it even more!

I have not heard it before and im a little on the fence about it. it sounds very pretty. I guess, it would be nice to know your ethnicity. I think this would be appropriate for someone who is of mexican/spanish descent. thats just what it sounds like to me!

I don't know any personally, but my daughter draws cartoons and happened to name one Mesa, but I don't think she spelled it that way.

I haven't heard of it as a name but I did some research and it seems there are several companies by that name. They are all in Germany but still worth mentioning, I think.

Don't know if it helps, but I thought I'd tell you.

Listen to how this sounds:

"Table" Grace or "Table" Ann.

That's just what you are saying when you say Mesa Grace or Mesa Ann.
