My husbands name is Cody and I would like to name our daughter after him. Her older sister is Leah Kate. So I would like to continue using a double name...

First I'd like to say that Cody is an adorable name for a girl. I know a girl named Cody and she's the cutest, bubbliest person ever. That said, if a man named Robert can name his son Robert I don't see how this is really that much different. Hence, having the same name in the family doesn't seem like a big deal, especially if she's going to be called by a double name. Now what might be a little strange is if the dad had his girl Cody and then had two boys also named Cody. This actually happens. I take this scenario from my husband's family. There were different mother's involved, but still.

My suggestions for secondary names to go with Cody...

Cody Claire <3

Cody Lee

Cody Jane <3

Cody Ann

Cody Rae <3

I'd advise against names like Cody Sloan, Cody Payton, Cody Skyler, Cody Riley where you pair it with an androgynous or unisex name. Make the other name obviously girly. I'd also hyphenate (got sick of doing it towards the end) You could also go something like a girl I know whose full first name is Anna Katherine but goes by Anna Kate.

Maybe spell it Codie to make it a little more feminine. Or Kodie is cute. Kody. Codi Kodi Codee Kodey, Codey, you could try Codeigh or Kodeigh, though I'd most likely pronounce those like Co-DAY if I saw them.

I looked up the feminine form of Cody, as I'm named after my dad Michael, and I'm Michaila, but Cody appears to be a gaelic unisex name that means Descendant of Cuidighthigh; son of Óda. If all else fails, find a gaelic girl name that also begins with c: http://www.meaning-of-names.com/gaelic-names/c-names-3.asp

or try Dakota "Koti" or Cassidy.

hope this helps!

What about Cordelia, nickname Cody? It just seems a little weird to me to have a daughter with her father's exact name...

Cody Severus

Cody Bob

Cody Albus

Cody Jar-Jar

Cody De-Shawn

Just to name a few, though if you go with any of these, expect a short childhood for her.

Problem is, Cody isn't a girl's name, it's a boy's name.

Giving children androgynous or exotic names is not good, in my opinion. They have to live with those names, and while you might think it's pretty, kids in school may taunt them.

Just my opinion.

Cody isn't a girls name. Whether it is your husbands name or not, it is still bad.

It is like a woman named Melissa naming her son Joseph Mellisa or Mellisa Alexander. It just doesn't work.

I agree with Tom.

Basically, Cody is not a girl name. Hence why it's your HUSBAND's name.

I'd probably pair it with one of these:

Taylor

Amanda

Shea

or Amy
